Preventing Deepfake Fraud

Problem

  • AI voice + video cloning will make “grandma, I need money right now” scams trivial.
  • Elderly people and busy parents are especially vulnerable.
  • Current defenses (secret questions, caller ID, “I’d never ask you for money”) are:
    • Easy to forget in the moment.
    • Easy for scammers to bypass with social engineering.
    • Not built into the actual communication experience.

Solution

Physical keys + app that verify the person on the other side of the call.

  • Physical dongle / key (Lightning/USB-C or Bluetooth):
    • Must be present for your identity to “light up” as verified.
    • Simple LED indicator for “Connected / Working.”
  • Mobile app (iOS first):
    • Handles key pairing and cryptographic ID.
    • Integrates with CallKit for iPhone so you can see “TrueKin VERIFIED” overlay when on a call.
    • Simple UX: green banner = verified; grey = unverified; red = suspicious: “Call says it’s Daniel but key is missing.”
  • Family / Circle model:
    • You invite family members into a Trusted Circle.
    • Only those identities can be “verified” for each other.
    • Option to lock high-risk actions (e.g., “if they mention money or bank, require verification”).
